In 2013 I went to Thailand to visit a friend, who I would later realize was a teacher in disguise. I hadn't started Muay Thai yet, but I was born and raised a Buddhist. To see how an entire country believed so heavily in what I had been raised to believe was a paradigm shift. Temples were everywhere, just like churches in the States. There was also a deep belief in Supersition and Spirituality, something I had lost connection with in the daily grind of life. While there I was taken to a few temples in North, South and Central Thailand. I was exposed to a different kind of Buddhism. An older kind. While I had grown up knowing and performing the rituals, I had only a surface knowledge of it. As an Asian, born in America, and as a Buddhist it was an incredibly transformative trip.
